Built between 1608 and 1616 Christian IV's Brewhouse, Christian 4.s Bryghus in Danish, started life as part of a fortress around Frederiksholm Canal. But when King Christian IV extended the fortification along, what is now known as Christianshavn ramparts, it made the brewhouse redundant. And it was never used as a fortress.

A new statue of the Danish king Christian IV has been unveiled by Queen Margrethe. It stands at the corner of the forecourt and the ramp up to the main entrance of Børsen - the Royal Exchange - a building that was commissioned by Christian IV. The statue of the king is in bronze and by the Faroese sculptor Hans Pauli Olsen.
